Course Objectives: At the completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Obtain information about academic programs, student support services, student activities and campus organizations.
  2. Understand university policies and procedures concerning academic advising, attendance, scheduling and degree programs.
  3. Become aware of the library, the learning center, and other university services.
  4. Develop strategies for effective time management, memory improvement note-taking, health management, reading, writing and thinking.
  5. Learn techniques of effective preparation for tests, test-taking strategies and anxiety reduction.
  6. Learn techniques for dealing effectively with individuals and complicated interchange of ideas associated with the college experience.

  1. There will be examinations.
  2. Exercises will be assigned at various times throughout the course.
  3. You will be required to design and explain a learning model of your own.
  4. You will be required to attend class and participate in each lesson.

Class Attendance and Make-up Work: Attendance is mandatory. Participation is necessary in order to pass the class. Each class period is worth points toward your attendance grade. Scheduled tests and activities will not be changed and anyone not participating will not be allowed to make them up. If you know in advance that you will have a conflict with a test, you may contact the instructor IN ADVANCE and discuss the issue with him. In some cases, make-up tests may be allowed if notice is given IN ADVANCE. the teacher is not responsible for providing you with any missed work or lecture notes.

Student Responsibilities: The student is responsible for attending every class and being there ON TIME. If a student should miss class he/she is responsible for obtaining the notes/material missed during that class.
