LETTER OF APPLICATION
Allen T. Mooneyhan September 3, 2014 Vice
Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Services
Dear Search Committee Members: I am enthusiastically submitting my credentials as application to serve as Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Services at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville (UACCB). I have over twenty years experience in education including both high school and higher education. During this time, I have served as a high school educator as well as professor and administrator in higher education. While working in higher education, I have gained experience in the areas of both student services and academic affairs and have participated in numerous community events as a representative of the college. Additionally, I have served as assessment coordinator for Arkansas State University-Newport and remain active in the campus-wide assessment processes. I am currently working with several grants as well as scholarships and have oversight for Distance Learning and Concurrent Education. In each of my roles, I have remained focused on student learning and continuous improvement through data-driven decisions. It is my goal to bring these experiences to the office of Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Services at UACCB. While serving in several capacities at ASU-Newport over the past two decades, I have enjoyed the opportunity to hone the development of leadership skills through formal education as well as leadership trainings and activities required by my career. My Doctorate in Educational Leadership was completed at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The acceptance of my dissertation, An Analysis of Law and Policy Governing Ownership of Electronic Creations as Intellectual Property in Higher Education, marked the completion of a Doctorate in Educational Leadership in 2006. I also completed a Specialist in Community College Teaching as well as a Masters in Education from Arkansas State University. Leadership trainings I have completed include the AATYC Leadership Institute, the Future Leaders Institute sponsored by the American Association of Community Colleges, the Chair Conference, the Dale Carnegie Leadership Course, and the American Association of Community Colleges annual conference. I have also completed New Vision Newport, a local community-oriented leadership development organization. These activities have not only molded my perception of leadership, but have facilitated my desire to expand the role and scope of my own leadership experiences. I have been very fortunate to have experienced opportunities to lead serving on the Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges Board of Directors culminating as President of that organization, serving as President of the ASU-Newport faculty association, and orchestrating the creation and facilitation of advisory committees made up of campus representatives and business and industry community members from the areas of Business, Renewable Energy, Nursing, and Allied Health. It has been to my great benefit to experience numerous professional opportunities which have provided significant exposure to acclaimed thinkers and to bring back pedagogical innovations to reinvent in practical applications. Involvements in such gatherings as the HLC, NISOD, and conferences related to distance education and leadership have been invaluable in crafting my overall leadership vision. Over the past several years, I have utilized this vision as Division Chair and Dean in numerous capacities working closely with the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs as well as the Vice Chancellor for Student Services. One of my professional passions has been in the realm of technology. I have served as co-chair of the distance education committee and have extensive experience in designing, creating, and delivering online curriculum. I am proficient in Blackboard, WebCT, and Jenzabar (e-Racer) course delivery systems. Additionally, I have developed and offered professional development to faculty in WebCT and Jenzabar. As assessment coordinator for ASU-Newport, I created an efficient means for instructors to evaluate online courses using a virtual program I created. This program was modified to include a means for gathering assessment data from across campuses to support program evaluation efforts and continuous improvement within technical as well as general education programs. I have facilitated the process of implementing innovative technology at ASU-Newport working as Project Coordinator for the PACE grant and with external stakeholders to investigate new technologies for the prison education program. Finally, as Perkins Coordinator I have been responsible for funding proposals as well as facilitation of the Perkins processes and compliance requirements. I have submitted copies of my resume as well as my vita and references. These documents outline my accomplishments with regard to my professional development. Please allow me the opportunity to be a great asset to your institution and to continue my growth as Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Services at UACCB. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Dr.
Allen Mooneyhan, EdD.
